About Babylonian Numbers

Base-60 (sexagesimal) was used by ancient Mesopotamia from ~2000 BCE. It survives today in our 60-second minutes, 60-minute hours, and 360-degree circles.

Two symbols only: a vertical wedge (units 1–9) and a corner wedge (tens). These combined to form any digit 1–59. Zero was initially just a gap, later marked explicitly.

Why 60? Highly composite — divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 60 — making fractions much cleaner than base 10.
